Proper care can help maintain the softness, appearance, and manageability of your Silky Strands hair. Follow these tips to keep your strands looking their best.
WASH WITH CARE
Gently detangle your hair before washing, starting from the ends and working your way upward. Wash using lukewarm water and a gentle, sulfate-free shampoo. Avoid aggressively rubbing, twisting, or bunching the hair together while washing.
Follow with a moisturizing conditioner, focusing primarily on the mid-lengths and ends.
DETANGLE GENTLY
Use a wide-tooth comb, detangling brush, or extension-friendly brush when detangling.
Always begin at the ends and gradually work your way toward the roots. Avoid pulling or brushing aggressively, especially around lace, closures, and wig construction.
KEEP HER MOISTURIZED
Extensions don't receive the same natural oils as the hair growing from your scalp, so maintaining moisture is important.
Use lightweight, hair-appropriate moisturizing products as needed. Avoid applying excessive oils or heavy products, which may cause buildup and weigh the hair down.
HEAT WITH CAUTION
When using flat irons, curling irons, or other heated styling tools, always apply a heat protectant beforehand.
Avoid excessive or unnecessary heat. Using lower effective temperatures can help preserve the appearance and condition of your hair.
BEDTIME CARE
Before going to sleep, gently detangle your hair and secure it to minimize friction and tangling.
We recommend sleeping with a satin or silk bonnet, scarf, or pillowcase. For wavy or curly textures, loosely braid or secure the hair before bed to help preserve the pattern.
WAVY + CURLY TEXTURES
For Body Wave, Deep Wave, and Burmese Curly, use products appropriate for textured hair and avoid excessive brushing when dry.
To refresh the texture, lightly mist the hair as needed and gently define the pattern with your fingers or an appropriate detangling tool. Allow the hair to air-dry whenever practical.
HD LACE CARE
Treat your lace like luxury.
HD lace is delicate and should be handled gently. Avoid excessive pulling, scratching, aggressive brushing, or unnecessary tension around the lace.
When cleaning your wig or closure, be especially gentle around the lace area. Avoid heavy product buildup and excessive manipulation that could affect the lace or hair attached to it.
SWIMMING + WATER
Before swimming, secure your hair and take precautions to minimize tangling and exposure to chlorine or salt water. After swimming, rinse and cleanse the hair appropriately rather than allowing chlorine, salt, or other residue to remain in the hair.
STORAGE
When you're not wearing your wig, store it on a wig stand or mannequin head whenever possible. Keep hair clean, dry, detangled, and away from excessive heat, moisture, and direct sunlight.
